On Nov. 17, Mayor Kathy Taylor joined by Steve Dobbs, Hillcrest Medical Center CEO, as well as leading executives in the health and insurance industries, rallied Tulsa business leaders at the American Heart Association (AHA) Start! Tulsa Heart Walk CEO breakfast.
AHA recognized 15 Start! Fit-Friendly Companies and honored the following four new Start! Fit-Friendly Companies: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, Capitol One Auto Finance, City of Tulsa, and The Holmes Organisation.
Mayor Taylor accepted two awards on behalf of the City of Tulsa - the Gold Start! Fit-Friendly Company and the Community Innovation Award.
Bill Grant, president of The Holmes Organisation, also presented a large check in the shape of a running shoe to Mayor Taylor. Employees at the Holmes Organisation collectively walked 52,263 miles during the year and will be donating their employee groups' miles to TulsaMillionMiles.com.

Mayor Taylor said, "I appreciate the healthy culture you are fostering among your employees at The Holmes Organisation. We will be adding those miles to our Web site today! I challenge other Tulsa area companies and their employees to join us in our efforts to make Tulsa a healthier city."
AHA's Start! Heart Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Veteran's Park in downtown Tulsa. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Heart Institute are the 2010 Start! cause sponsors.
