The miles accumulated so far can be attributed to the 2,278 members on the Web site who log their daily miles and have participated in Tulsa area fitness events throughout the past 11 months.
“I am very pleased to see that Tulsans are going so far to get healthy,” said Mayor Kathy Taylor. “Our students at Grissom Elementary have played a big part in helping us accumulate our miles on TulsaMillionMiles.com. During the 2008-2009 School Year the ‘Grissom 100-Mile Club’ logged 7,584 miles for Tulsa Million Miles. Childhood obesity is on the rise, so it’s inspiring to see these students strap on their running shoes to get in shape and help our Tulsa Million Miles effort. I’m extremely proud of them for making healthy choices that will benefit them the rest of their lives.”
